General Dentistry for Children

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that your child should be seen by a pediatric dentist within 6 months of eruption of the first tooth and no later than 12 months of age. We recognize that every child is unique. Therefore we will choose from a variety of approaches to make the visit comfortable and fun for your son or daughter.

During your first visit, we will go over brushing, flossing and ways to prevent cavities including healthy foods for the teeth. The dentist will examine your child’s teeth. We may clean your child’s teeth and apply fluoride. X-rays may be taken depending on your child’s age and risk for getting cavities. HSI provides children’s dentistry services for ages 0 to 21.

PREVENTION

Prevention is always better than treatment. By actively preventing disease and decay through regular home care, professional dental cleanings and regular exams, you will maintain a healthy, beautiful smile. In addition, effective prevention can help you avoid costly treatments in the future to remove decay, restore teeth and treat gum disease. Regular prevention is truly your best investment.

CLEANING

Professional cleanings (dental prophylaxis) form the foundation for preventing gum disease and tooth decay. In a professional cleaning, your child’s dental team will remove plaque from the teeth, remove tarter above the gum line, and polish and remove stains from teeth.

Removing decay and repairing damaged teeth is key to both good oral health and overall well-being. It is crucial to maintain the health of the primary dentition, or “baby teeth” (even though they will eventually be replaced) because they are necessary for eating, speaking, proper growth and development of the jaws and placement of the permanent teeth. We understand how proper oral care can lead to a lifetime of healthy smiles.

EXAMS & TREATMENTS

Dental examinations help to diagnose disease before it becomes hazardous to your health. Regular examinations can save you money by alleviating problems while they are small and before they become expensive to repair, or in some cases, impossible to repair. We cannot express enough how important it is to see your dentist regularly. Remember, preventing disease is always better than treating disease.

Adult Dentistry

Health Services, Inc. knows the importance of keeping your teeth healthy and saving your natural teeth for as long as possible. No matter what condition your teeth are in, right now is the best time to begin taking care of them. HSI can help, and it’s easier than you think.

Even if you have been afraid to visit the dentist, come and see us. We will give you a very careful evaluation and help you to take care of and preserve your teeth, one step at a time.

DENTAL CHECKUPS

At Health Services, Inc., our dentists will complete a comprehensive exam when you schedule your first check-up. This includes a comprehensive oral exam, X-rays, a complete periodontal exam and a cancer screening.

Our hygiene department has been designed to provide you with thorough dental cleanings and gum care. We have trained our hygienists in the latest procedures and technology. You’ll find our office friendly, comfortable and efficient. We have created a comfortable environment staffed with friendly professionals who will put you at ease, listen to your concerns and answer all of your questions.

During every visit, your mouth will be checked for new periodontal problems, which can otherwise go undetected, so we can nip them in the bud. Our goal is to keep each patient’s teeth and gums healthy and we always work toward their preservation.

DENTAL CLEANING

We recommend that you come in and see us for a checkup and dental cleaning every six months. After your cleaning we will polish your teeth using a polishing paste and an air-flow device which removes additional particles as well as heavy stains so your teeth are bright and shiny! The air-flow device is particularly effective for patients with implants and orthodontic patients. After the cleaning your hygienist will educate you on areas you can improve on by home care.

ROOT CANALS

As of July 2016, HSI was awarded an Oral Health Grant in order to allow us to provide Root Canal services to our patients. Our dentists use the latest technology to examine, diagnose, and treat those suffering from an infected tooth. When the root of a tooth becomes inflamed or infected, the pulp is removed and the inside of the tooth is carefully cleaned and disinfected, then filled and sealed. After the sealing is performed, the tooth is restored with a crown or filling for protection. We’ll guide patients through the process with education on what has caused this and what to expect in the future, ensuring they understand how to prevent the need for a root canal in the future.

PATIENT EDUCATION

With proper hygiene and regular cleanings you will be able to keep your teeth for years to come. It’s not true that you can expect to lose your teeth due to growing old. You can protect your healthy teeth against gum disease – the #1 cause of adult tooth loss – with regular cleanings, as well as some simple instructions from our hygienists.

In addition to providing thorough cleanings, our hygienists will show you how you can preserve your teeth for years to come. They’re here to help you learn more about dental health and good oral hygiene. They’ll take the time to explain the results of your X-rays and gum evaluation chart to you in easy-to-understand terms.

They’ll also take the time to explain how to brush your teeth, the importance of flossing and how to floss, the purpose of mouthwash and how many times a day and when you should brush your teeth. Your oral hygiene at home is an important part of keeping your teeth and gums healthy.
